An online academy designed to help women run successful businesses, smash corporate glass ceilings and build professional support networks is encouraging South West entrepreneurs and executives to sign up for its free 10-week programme.
Over 3,000 women have already signed up for the Allbright Academy, which is supported by regional networking groups run by local volunteers in cities across the UK.
Agatha Nitecka, founder of RAN Studios, is organising the Bristol events, which will be taking place at Harvey Nichols in the city.
Bristol University graduate Sahar Hashemi, who founded Coffee Republic, and Cheltenham-born Thomasina Miers, who set up Mexican restaurant chain Wahaca after winning the BBC’s Masterchef, are among the female leaders delivering content on the course.
Helping women to build a professional support network for each other – or a ‘work sisterhood’ – is a key part of the academy programme.
Thomasina Miers talks about being true to what motivates you in her tutorial: “I’d say to anyone who is starting out, keep making sure that you’re doing things for the right reason and what you are choosing to do stays true to who you are, otherwise it’s going to be an uphill battle.
“Do something that really inspires you. If you’re not engaged in work, that’s over half your life when you’re not feeling fulfilled.
“Being fulfilled is about what you do with your life and how you spend it. If that’s connected to the job you do, then life becomes easier.”
Deb Bee, group marketing and creative director of Harvey Nichols, added: ‘We’re thrilled to be working with The AllBright Academy to help women succeed in business and smash glass ceilings.
“The alignment between Harvey Nichols and AllBright could not be a better fit as both businesses are committed to celebrating and empowering women.
“The free Academy program is a fabulous idea and we’re excited to be hosting in our stores across the country.”
The AllBright Academy is part of AllBright – an organisation set up by serial entrepreneur Debbie Wosskow OBE and Anna Jones, former CEO of Hearst UK, to help women build the skills, confidence and connections for a succcessful career.
